Rick Carroll
Prodigal Son
EPK

Rick Carroll’s Prodigal Son project is a post-modern blues; bold, bruising and eclectic. His voice is rough, his guitar; brutally sensual [definitely a hint of Hendrix, perhaps Trower in those more reflective pieces] His original compositions are powerful and adventurous; balancing machines, mayhem and the soul that only years of life's complications can call into manifestation. It’s definitely blues; the personal, distinctive blues of a prodigal son come back to see if the old man’s still kept his room all these years.
SHORT BIO

Tech Considerations
This is one act that's really easy to set up. All that's needed are two high-Z inputs at the stage snake and [if you can] peg each to the left and right at the board. Rick will handle the rest, with your sound guy doing the "salt to taste" thing to make sure it all sounds reasonable from the fronts.
No drums, no amps to mic. No ambient sound concerns. The entire thing is controlled by Rick once the fronts are tone-balanced with what's coming from his own onstage stereo PA rig. And, the impact of backing the house system with a stereo stage "flood" PA is significant. Even for those folks standing close to the stage, the sound is full, deep, clear, and powerful; not a weak spot in the place.
"I like to take it easy on everybody," says Rick, when asked about his unique set-up. "Once we're set, the sound guy can sit back and play with his phone."
"I even have a small stage light set-up if need be," he adds. "I'm pretty self sufficient . . . well, except for a generator. The place is going to need power, but beyond that, I'm probably all set regardless of what's in place . . . or not."
